All About DachshundsMy Favorite Mini Dachshund Dry Food

I am often asked how I keep my trim dachshund figure. Well, having tried several dry foods that my people gave me, I’ve decided to share with you the one Dachshund food I like the best. It’s quite tasty and the best part is, it’s a food made especially for the Dachshund. You see because our long necks and backs are prone to injury, we of the Dachshund breed need to eat a diet that incorporates glucosamine and chondroitin.
My people feed me ‘Dachshund 28′ dry food by Royal Canin, mixed with a little canned food. It’s glucosamine and chondroitin aid in good joint health which is particularly important for our Dachshund breed. It also contains L-carnitine, vitamins E and C and green tea poly-phenols to help keep me muscular as I age and even aid in good dental health.
The company was created in France in 1967 by a veterinarian. They’ve been in business ever since and I dare say it’s because they make great products.
You can’t find their product in every pet store. My people had to look on the internet to find where some is sold in the Bay Area. It’s also a little on the expensive side, but after all, I’m worth it!
If you consider the fact that I really don’t eat that much because I am only little mini Dachshund, then a bag really lasts quite a long time.
I’m sure there is other specially formulated dry food out there for our Dachshund breed, this one just happens to be my favorite right now.

If your humans ever want to try a good moist food I would HIGHLY recommend Sojos. This food comes in the bag dry and then my mom adds water and puts it in the fridge for a while. The water absorbs into the food and in just 30 mins I go dog gone CRAZY for this food! I really like the chicken flavor kind and my mom just bought the beef, but I haven’t tried it yet. She gives it to me a few times a week as an extra special treat. I am a really picky eater but I go bananas for this stuff.
We fed our Mini dachschihuahua a mix of Royal Canin Mini for Chis and Tekel food for 7 years and she did fine till this years when we adopted a cat and went to the Pet store to buy food while she was being neutered. The sales person was unusually knowledgeable and told us RC had recently ben bought by Purina,I believe. If you now look at the labels, meat is no longer the first ingredient. I since switched to Iams which she doesn’t like but is better for her. It comes in the green bag, We are now switching to Eukanuba for Mini-Dachs. Meat first please.
