Dachshund Parties on Cinco De Mayo
May 6, 2011
~ late morning
Hello Everyone! And a special hello to my sweetheart, Izzy. It’s me,
Sampson, the lovable mini Dachshund.
Last night was the big Cinco De Mayo celebration. People and Dachshunds from all over California and the western states celebrate Cinco de Mayo, or the Fifth of May.
It is a day to commemorate the victory of the Mexican army over French forces at the battle of Puebla in 1862. Contrary to popular belief it is not Mexican Independence Day, that is September 16th. Cinco de Mayo has become a day to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride.
Sombreros, margaritas, maracas, mariachi bands and my personal favorite, tamales, were all part of the big party attended by this mini Dachshund. It is a grand fiesta! Plenty of food, dancing and tequila is had by all, human and Dachshund alike.
Many of my Chihuahua friends on face book also had a great time celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Let me tell you, those Chihuahuas know how to party! Ay ay, ay, ay, ay!
I ate several pork tamales. They are this Dachshunds favorite Mexican food. Then of course, I had some rice and beans and some hot salsa! It was so hot, my little Dachshund eyes were watering, but it was SOOOO good. Next thing you know, we were all doing shots of tequila and dancing the night away.
Mommy says I really know how to shake my little Dachshund butt! I may have short legs, but I’ve got some fancy footwork! Why, I even won the Mexican Hat Dance contest!
Well, I’m going to leave you for today. For some reason, I’m battling with a headache today…..
