~ late evening
Hello there, it’s me,
Sampson the lovable mini Dachshund!
Today was a very strange mini Dachshund day. When I woke up it was dark and cold and rainy. After a little while, the rain stopped and the sun came out.
I went over to my blanket, but by the time I got there the sun was gone. Mommy said there would be no sun to lay in today. So, what’s a Dachshund to do? I resigned myself to having a nap on the couch. I curled up in my little Dachshund nest to try and get away from the cold. I HATE being cold!
I must have just dozed off when I was awakened by a loud wind all around me. My people were hurrying about, Mommy running to the window, Pop Pops grabbing his jacket to protect himself from the cold and the rain. He ran out of the French doors.
We ran up to the door just in time to see two of the patio furniture covers slowly sinking in the pool. And my chaise lounge had blown 5 feet across the patio and was almost in the pool!
Pop Pops sprang into action, pulling one cover out of the pool and just barely retrieving the second before it sunk. Whoa! It certainly is a cold and stormy day.
In the evening, I was snuggled in my little Dachshund ‘nest’ with my people on either side of me, watching TV, with a nice toasty fire burning.
When all of sudden, it happened. A little slow and softly at first, then louder and much faster! It was so loud, my mini Dachshund ears have never heard such a noise! We all ran to the french doors and looked outside.
“It’s snowing! It’s snowing!” I said. This MUST be the cold, white stuff Izzy talked about on her Facebook page. She called it ‘snow’.
“No little one. That’s not snow.” Mommy said, “That’s hail.”
I was scared, I didn’t know what to do. I started to whine with concern and she picked me up to comfort me. She said, “Snow doesn’t make noise when it falls.”
Well, let me tell you, this stuff was making noise and it was ‘bouncing’ when it hit the ground. Pop Pops ran to get the video camera while we watched.
He opened the door and it made the noise even louder. It scared me even more, but my curiosity got the better of me. With Mommy right beside me, I poked my head out and took a step outside. Ugh!…It was cold and wet! I did not like it all.
I certainly hope the sun comes back tomorrow!
