Brush Their Teeth
One of the best things you can do for your dog’s teeth maintenance is to brush their teeth on a regular basis. Twice a day is best. Morning and evening.
It’s not that difficult. They will get used to it after awhile. At least it worked out okay for our mini Dachshund…
Some time ago we put out an article on the subject:

Best Toothpaste For Dogs
So which toothpaste is the best for brushing your dog’s teeth?
I can tell you what we use:
SENTRY – Made in the USA
(view on amzn)
Why that one? Well we simply looked on Amzn to see which toothpaste had the most and best reviews. This one did, so we bought it.

They say it’s formulated specifically for pets.
It is made in the USA.
“With patented enzymes, this non-foaming formula works hard but does not require rinsing.”
Best Small Dog Toothbrush
Our Tweenie Dachshund weights 14 pounds. We use a toothbrush designed for small dogs (a smaller head on the brush).
Again, we just looked for what was best selling on Amzn:
Toothbrush Set

“The mini dental hygiene brushes give you the smallest brush head on the market. This design gives you a better experience when brushing the teeth of small breed pets.”
SUMMARY
The Dachshund is susceptible to dental issues and dental illness. Our Sampson had to have 4 teeth pulled under anesthesia when he was 9 years old. It was not a good experience for him.
To avoid going through that process, do your dog a favor. Get some toothpaste for dogs and brush his (her) teeth every day!
